Ann’s career began when she became the Contract Makeup Artist for Esteem Model and Talent. Her first major project was a photo shoot with MYHRA Photography and IBM to produce advertising for the anticipated IBM TechConnect. Since then, she has worked with numerous commercial and fashion photographers, independent film producers, and television affiliates. She has also been known to do a wedding or two.

Ann's love of the aesthetic arts was developed at an early age. She began performing in local plays and musicals at the age of seven, where she was introduced to the intricacies of stage makeup. As a teenager, she began to focus on her vocal talents with the help of local producer, John Custer. Since 1989, she has recorded 5 singles. She even graced the local pageantry circuit in 1992 and 1993. In 1997, Ann signed with Esteem Model and Talent to gain local representation for her music as well as local modeling, film and television. Esteem went on to train her as key management personnel and their on-call makeup artist. Since Esteem closed it's doors in the summer of 1999, Ann began taking freelance cosmetic artistry jobs. It only seemed natural to form Blush Cosmetic Artistry with her good friend and hair artist, Anna Smith.

Ann is also a working actress and model. For work in front of the camera, view Ann's Model's Card.

Anna first realized that she was destined to do hair at the age of fourteen. As an American living in Milan, Italy, she was exposed to the fashion industry both behind and in front of the camera. although she got her start as a hair model, her interest soon turned to the creation of the look. It didn't take long to figure out where her career was headed.

As a cosmetology student, she was awarded the title of "Best Female Hairdresser." Shortly after graduation, she went on to work at Douglas Carroll Salon, a venue well known for it's educational excellence. Their reputation in the community for quality work and innovative hair design is well established. As a member of this team, she acquired the technical cutting and coloring skills that set the industry standard. A few years later, Esteem Model and Talent Agency brought Anna on board as their primary hairstylist. In addition to keeping the models appearance up-to-date, she also taught classes and prepared the models for shoots. Both behind the chair and on the shoot, her easygoing manner and attention to detail make her a pleasure to work with.

In 1998, Chris was given the opportunity to test with Atlanta-based photographer Ron MacDonald. While working with him that summer, she gained experience doing hair and makeup for headshots and model portfolios. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work with several local photographers and has provided hair and makeup services for commercials and independent films. Last year she worked on a promotional video for AT&T that was shot by The Communications Group, Inc. She also enjoyed working on her first feature film last summer, "The Pink House," where she worked side by side doing makeup with Ann Johnson. Her specialties are beauty, editorial, print, and film. She also does personal makeup consultations upon request.

Chris discovered that she was an artist when she first took art classes in school. After various assignments, she soon realized that what she liked best was drawing women and painting makeup on their faces to give them life and depth. Instead of choosing a career in fashion design, she thought makeup was the best creative outlet for her talents. In 1994, while still in high school, Chris began taking modeling classes from John Robert Powers and worked as a cosmetic consultant for Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios. She studied cosmetology at Piedmont Community College and gained a substantial background in hair and skincare. Chris also lived in Wilmington, NC, where she did extra work for Dawson's Creek (and also found her way into the makeup trailer to learn their secrets!) After that, she came back to the triangle area and began modeling again for Esteem Model and Talent, where she met Ann Johnson. Once Chris shot with talented photographer Ron MacDonald, she decided that she wanted to focus her talents behind the camera. With a lot of talent and friendly encouragement, she began her career in makeup artistry. While sharpening her skills, Chris worked with North Carolina Tri-Color Imaging, where she did professional photographic artwork and retouching. She now does freelance makeup only.
